How to Bake a Sweet Christmas Pork or Beef Ham with Cranberry Sauce

Christmas in the kitchen is not just about cookingย  itโ€™s about memory-making, aroma therapy for the soul, and feeding love to everyone at the table. This sweet, glazed Christmas ham with cranberry sauce is one of those recipes that turns an ordinary house into a holiday home.

Whether you choose pork or beef, this recipe delivers tenderness, shine, and that unmistakable Christmas warmth.


Ingredients

For the Ham

1 fully cooked pork or beef ham (5โ€“7 lbs)

1 cup brown sugar

ยฝ cup honey or pineapple juice

2 tbsp mustard

1 tsp ground cloves

1 tsp cinnamon

ยฝ tsp nutmeg

2 tbsp butter

Whole cloves (optional for studding)


๐Ÿ’ For the Cranberry Sauce

2 cups fresh or frozen cranberries

ยพ cup sugar

1 cup water or orange juice

1 tsp orange zest

ยฝ tsp cinnamon

Step-by-Step Baking Instructions

1๏ธโƒฃ Prepare the Ham

Preheat oven to 325ยฐF (165ยฐC).

Score the ham in a diamond pattern.

If using cloves, gently press one into each diamond.


2๏ธโƒฃ Make the Sweet Glaze

In a saucepan:

Combine brown sugar, honey (or pineapple juice), mustard, butter, cinnamon, nutmeg, and cloves.

Heat gently until smooth and glossy.


3๏ธโƒฃ Bake with Love

Place ham in a baking tray.

Brush generously with glaze.

Cover with foil and bake 15โ€“20 minutes per pound.

Every 20 minutes, remove and baste with more glaze.

Remove foil for the last 20โ€“30 minutes.

Turn oven to 375ยฐF (190ยฐC) for a golden, sticky finish.

Boil cranberries, sugar, and liquid.

Simmer 10โ€“15 minutes until thick.

Stir in orange zest and cinnamon.

Let cool โ€” it thickens beautifully.

Let the ham rest 15 minutes before slicing

Always baste generously

Use a meat thermometer (145ยฐF internal)

Serve with baked sweet potatoes, rice, or mac & cheese

Donโ€™t rush the glazeย ย  slow heat builds flavor
