How do you manage screen time for yourself?

In a world that never stops glowing, buzzing, and calling for our attention, managing screen time has become an act of self-care โ a quiet rebellion against the noise.
For me, it began when I realized how often Iโd reach for my phone without purpose. Emails, messages, videos โ all blending into one endless scroll. My mind was tired, my eyes were strained, and my spirit felt crowded. Thatโs when I chose to take control.
1. I Start and End My Day Offline
Before I face a single notification, I face myself.
I breathe, pray, or simply sit in silence with my morning tea. The same goes for bedtime โ no screens, no bright lights, just peace and gratitude for the day that has passed.
2. I Schedule My โScreen Breaksโ
I treat my time like appointments with peace.
Every few hours, I put my device down and step outside โ even if itโs just to feel the sun, stretch, or listen to nature. Those little pauses reset my energy and sharpen my focus.
3. I Use My Screen With Intention
I remind myself: the screen is a tool, not my master.
If Iโm creating content, teaching, or connecting meaningfully, thatโs time well spent. But if I find myself scrolling without joy, I gently stop โ no guilt, just awareness.
4. I Replace Digital With Real
Instead of endless feeds, I feed my soul โ cooking a new meal, reading, journaling, or talking with someone I love.
Those are the moments that refill what the screen canโt.
5. I Give Myself Grace
Balance isnโt perfect; itโs personal. Some days I spend more time online for work or creativity โ and thatโs okay. What matters is knowing when to unplug and just be.
Final Thought:
Screens connect us, but silence restores us. Managing screen time isnโt about restriction โ itโs about reclaiming presence, creativity, and calm.
Gentle hands, gentle mind, gentle soul โ take time to unplug and simply breathe.
